Simple and secure mobile payments for Swedes.

The Brief

Swish was launched in 2012 as a collaboration between Sweden's largest banks. Rather than all creating their own individual services, the banks combined to create one seamless payment app. After two years on the market without any significant design updates, the banks came to The World Loves to help them refresh the app.

Nothing new, but make it new.

With no new fuctionality in scope, our project was about honing in on the details, simplifying where we could and finding ways to make the design feel modern and fresh. We focused on how the app should feel — from the interactions and animations, to how information was presented and revealed to the user. We wanted the experience to feel lightweight and timeless, just like the service itself.

Modern, with moments of delight.

At the time, Swish was a peer to peer payment app. Transactions were between friends. They were about lunch dates, after work beers and everyday adventures. We wanted to celebrate these little moments and bring some of that joy into the app. The payment flow was kept super simple, but given a friendly, ultra tactile UI treatment. And the confirmation screen surprised with a burst of color and subtle sparkling animation. The sparkles are still seen in the app today ✨.
